Good Parks
Parenting Resources > Family Fun > Good Parks

Let's go to the park! Many of us with toddler multiples prefer to go to parks with fenced play areas. It is a little less stressful to know that they are contained within a fixed perimeter, especially when you take them by yourself. Here is a list of fenced parks in Marin.

Corte Madera
Town Park (Corte Madera)
From 101 take the Tamalpais Drive exit and go west on Tamalpais for about 1.5 miles. Turn right onto Pixley Avenue (just before the fire station.) You will see the parking lot on the right.

Mill Valley
Boyle Park (Mill Valley)
From 101 take the Tiburon Blvd./East Blithedale exit. Head west on East Blithedale for about 11/2 miles. Just past Park School (on your left), you will see a sign for the park. The entrance is immediately past the sign.

Ross
Pixie Park (Ross)
Pixie Park is a private, totally enclosed park in the Marin Art and Garden Center in Ross. This beautiful park is designed specifically for children under the age of six. This is a great park for toddler multiples, because you need a key to get in and out of the park. There are three age appropriate climbing structures, a playhouse, a wooden train, a rocket, swings, and lots of sand areas for the children to play in. There is an annual membership fee of $55.00, and a key deposit of $25.00. In addition, each family is required to put in about 13 hours of volunteer time each year, which involves maintenance and fundraising for the park, as well as volunteering at the May Spring Fair. There is also a special area for birthday parties that can be reserved by members for $30.00. Since it is a yearly cooperative park, new members are added only during the month of September. A waiting list is kept throughout the year since there is a limit to the number of families who can join. To get on the waiting list now, go to the Pixie Park website at www.pixiepark.org or call the Marin Art and Garden Center at 454-6697. New members can join during the month of September by attending a membership meeting to learn about the workings of Pixie. The website also has lots of pertinent, up-to-date information about the park, including more details about membership.

San Anselmo
Millennium Playground at Memorial Park (San Anselmo)
Take Sir Francis Drake Blvd. toward San Anselmo. Go through the hub and pass Redhill Shopping Center and then the San Anselmo Recreation Department. Turn right onto San Francisco Boulevard (at a stoplight). Go through one stop sign and look for the Memorial Park/Millennium Playground sign on your right. Turn right into parking lot.

San Rafael
Civic Center Park (San Rafael)
From 101 take the North San Pedro Road (Civic Center) exit and head east. Turn left on Civic Center Drive and watch for the play area on the right near the lagoon.

Gerstle Park (San Rafael)
